The fall turning class at the Cape May Tech Evening School has begun.
The second turning class of the semester produced some very nice items. Fire starters and a cedar bowl added variety to the usual pen turning of the second evening, as did the red and white acrylic turning. A few bottle stoppers were produced before the official 6:00 start time; turners are welcome to come in early to work on items of interest to them.
Bowl making will be the topic for this week's class. There will be a talk and short demonstration to get started, and then each participant will be select a blank from our stock. Instructors will circulate to assist and answer questions, as usual. Bowls often take two class sessions; it is time well spent on skills that may be applied to many other projects.
Each class member is invited to attend our monthly club meeting. The next is this Tuesday, September 20, at 7:00 at the Upper Township Library (we meet after the library itself is closed for the day). It is located on Rte 631 (Tuckahoe Rd), just east of the Rte 50 intersection. http://cmclibrary.org/about-the-library/location-hours/item/upper-township
At this month's meeting, the presentation will be button making. These wooden buttons are very popular items, and you may wish to try making your own before class ends in November.
