Subject: Club Minutes 10/21/2014
A small but mighty gathering this evening, seven members looking for knowledge, skills , and the winning lotto numbers.
Thank you to Gerald for modifying and improving the "mobile lathe" to enable the lathe to present itself wit minimal grunts and effort. As your secretary without a skirt I assisted in driving the lathe back to it's trailer home with minimal effort and maximal efficiency. Excellent work by our major cog in this organization.
There is a concern for the dwindling number of participants at meetings over the past six or so months. Life does get in our way. A survey will be forwarded to all to get a feeling of what is on members minds and how things can change to gain more attendance. It certainly is not the lack of alcohol as no one seems to be stepping up and bringing the incentives.
Arthur Bichsel had the club grinder for approximately 47 days and has tweaked and calibrated it to a point of "don't mess with me I'm perfect". We are now ready for the wood tuners Olympics.
Show and tell was again full of wonder and delight, we are expecting a t.v. syndication any day now. Secretary Andrews wishes he could do what other members do in minutes................. There is an amazing amount of talent and skill running about this small gathering. Thanks to all who continue to awe, inspire, and encourage us to do more every opportunity we have.
The Meeting was started with our El Presidente Gerald showing how to get comfy with a skew by turning a carrot. It was a rather dominating carrot, bigger than the biggest carrots but a carrot nonetheless ready to be spun. As a spectator I was impressed and informed as to the proper technique and speeds to turn with a skew tool. It was informative, fun and the local rabbits were happy to eat all the shavings of the educational endeavor.
Gerald won the "Bring Back" Turning from Arthur who started a Laminated
Pedestal Platter of Mahogany with potential stack of other woods for the base.
Gerald will complete the project for the next meeting.
This evenings raffle which had a large selection of new desirable wood samples generated an amount of $55.00 which is more than the amount when twice the amount of members show up....The gauntlet has been set, let's pick up the slack and git back to the grind!!!!!!!
Those in Attendance were: Doug James, Arthur Bichsel, Tom Henry, Joe Jones, John Anderson, Alan Tasoff and Gerald Bruman.
