Subject: Club Minutes 3/17/2009
We had a nice informal and informative meeting. Attending were Tom Henry, Alan Tasoff, Bob Broschart, Richard Mason, Dan Barry, Doug James, Diane Brown, Peter Kolb, and Don Matousch. We discussed a club project that was suggested by Arthur Bichsel who, unfortunately, was unable to attend. It had to do with making craft kits for the Bacharach Rehabilitation Facility. Arthur will further explain his proposal at the April meeting.
I want to acknowledge the following members who brought in their Club Challenge and Show and Tell projects: Tom Henry, a peppermill; Alan Tasoff, a peppermill and a goblet; Diane Brown brought in a very unique turned box and a segmented pen; Don Matousch, an assortment of turnings; Bob Broschart brought in a turned crotch; Richard brought in a fully operational turned lamp; and I, a small trumpet and two interlocking segmented rings. Hope I didn't miss anybody.
Thanks to Don Matousch for giving an excellent presentation of assorted types of wood and giving an informative description of each. Well done!
Next month, Doug James will demonstrate hollowing using the Jamison hollowing tool. He is planning to bring in his own lathe, weather permitting. So, if it is raining, his demo will be postponed. In May, I will be bringing in the miter that I use to cut my segments and will demonstrate turning a segmented ring.
