Subject: Club Minutes 2/19/2013
This evening's meeting was attended by all those that were present, you know who you are. Visiting tonight were William Joe and Mike Turenic, sorry if your names are butchered.
Presidente Ron Befferman raffled off a set of 7 turning tools once owned by Butch Patrick, he was Eddie on the t.v. show "The Munsters". Don't think Eddie did much turning as these tools still have that factory shine to them. As it "turned" out Shirley was the winner, too bad Ron forgot to bring them so let's see if they really do exist or this was a ploy to fatten the coffers of the club checking account.
Tom brought up the liability insurance issue, everyone agreed to purchase a policy from AAW for $90.00 per yr to have basic coverage until a more refined plan can be instituted. Note: You must be an AAW Member to be covered.
Jeff Schnell arrived a few minutes late tonight, but since he presented President Befferman with a combo dustpan/ pooper-scooper he was immediately forgiven.
The Wounded Warriors Project was suggested by Shirley's husband John as an outreach program. It could introduce wood turning to disabled vets in the local areas. Tom will look into this.
Alan amazed everyone with his "project from hell", a segmented bowl cut in half, glued together to form an Easter egg then filled with drawers. It was an amazing show of his skills and ability to use glue without leaving drips.
Some of the bowls made at Ron's segmenting workshop were amazing to say the least, once again Gerald had to steal the show by making another beautiful piece. Shirley and Bob Keefe also brought in their segmented bowls. Excellent work. Everyone is hoping Gerald will bring his "new" oscillating sander he just bought to the next meeting for show and tell. Don't disappoint us Gerald.
Ron had some stars he made from a jig he made, he's pretty clever at doing these intricate and delicate projects. Rumor has it Hollywood is going to give him his own spot on the sidewalk, but he has to make his own star.
Thank you for attending, keep those projects spinning and keep that face shield on.
Sincerely, John Andrews
